We love Google Analytics at Blend, it plays a big part in our online marketing service that we offer our clients. As good as Google Analytics is, it does not show live data… who is on the site there and then, that’s where Clicky comes in.

Clicky’s main premise is to offer detailed, beautiful looking statistics that are easy to digest and live. Clicky is free to websites with less than 3,000 page impressions a day - great for small businesses. Head over to Clicky and register for a free account. You will need to place the code on your website to activate, let us know if you need help with this.
We would recommend that you still keep Google Analytics in place, especially if you use an outside agency for processing this data, which we do for our clients.

Magento is in our opinion, the best E-Commerce system out there. Here we will give a few basic tips for those looking to setup a UK based Magento site.

The first thing you will want to do is download the UK locale files and upload via FTP. You will then want to check that you have configured the options in the configuration section of the admin console to reflect the options you need. From the backend, head over to System / Configuration, you will then want to check the General (General, Currency Options), Sales (VAT, delivery and sales), Admin (System) these pages contain most of the UK based options you will want to set.

Windows users, like Mac users, have always had the option of installing a different browser to the one pre-installed on their computer. However, for the casual PC user, the internet, quite simply, has been Internet Explorer, until now that is.
After pressure from the European commission, Microsoft has agreed to proactively offer the user of one of browser twelve browsers. These options will become available to those that update via the Microsoft Windows update system from today (Monday, 1st March 2010).

Popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter, is considering implementing advertising into people’s feeds, also into 3rd party services such as TweetDeck.
The important thing to note is that ads will only be displayed when searching, not all the time, so a search for bike for example, might show a Halfords ad.

Google Analytics is a free web statistics service provided by, you guessed it Google. Businesses of all sizes use this fantastic web application to monitor their site traffic, taking advantage of a free stats package that would usually costs hundreds of pounds a month.
One of the first things I would recommend after you have setup your Google Analytics account is to make sure that you exclude your company’s network (IP address) from the statistics. Doing so will ensure that your statistics are ‘true’, and not manipulated by internal staff visiting the site from day to day.
